I'm messing about on Youtube listening to 'Sea within a Sea' by those lovely creatures the Horrors---

mmmm...really reminds me of joy division....apparently this new sound was all down to spending loads of time in total darkness....and switching about a bit - it clearly works well! I NEED the album!

Then i decide to listen to some good old robots...and after hopping about in the netherworld that is Youtube, i found this!

It's a short film Sue and Dee made for Fashion Film Festival... -- Trust me, stop whatever you're doing, and take 2 minutes and 47 seconds to watch this- it is genius!
No, really.

I have to say it made me giggle - it terrified me quite a lot at first, but at the end....well...i did laugh.
The way Dee kinda crawls up the walls reminds me of 'The Tears' video, don't you think?
I also love the music to it!

x

So, now's as good as any other time, and i thought i'd post this:

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/stage/comedy/article5123123.ece

Yes, it is and article on the Mighty Boosh, but i reckon it's a pretty good one- you seem to get a better insight into what's really going on with the Boosh, rather than the usual rubbish which raves about them a lot but doesn't actually tell you very much at all.
This article is from the most recent live tour, and it talks about Julian visiting his twins and Noel partying, but also about how they're dealing with fame in different ways.
It gives you a bit of history of the boosh, and tells you wierdly, about Noel's and Julian's parents / childhood.

However, what really has annoyed me is the fan-girl at the end- makes all boosh fans sound mental! (you'll know what i mean if you do actually get to the end - it's three pages long!!). Oh well, it helped me waste some time.

As did this:

Being a fan of Kasabian, this pleased me---

I like the song, but surprisingly,i'm not crazy about the video...

x

 Comments

Naka Nickie Photography...

It's coming up to my exams, so i suppose i should be revising, but instead i've come up with genius ways to procrastinate!
Including Myspace!
Anyway, while i was happily browsing away, i found this: Naka Nickie Photography...
I seriously suggest you check this out...these are amazing photos-- www.myspace.com/nakanickie
All credit to this photographer, these photos are spot on. They're really artistic, and i have a bit of an obsession with black and white photography anyway!

Need more convincing? I think these photos speak for themselves:

Yes, it's Robots in Disguise...isn't this a cool photo? Dee looks manic!

and again... i quite want Sue's necklace...

i also want all their shoes, and their leggings....

There are also some of Crystal Castles, though i have to admit, Alice Glass does scare me, just a tiny bit, after i read an article in NME about her....it's a fantastic photo though- enjoy!

Here's Noel Fielding too! Is it me, or does he actually look like a woman in this shot? It's still a great photo though, really arty:

Lightspeed champion- three times over!

more robots:

and finally: Chris Corner & Sue Denim (i heart Sue's gloves)!

I love the way it's so clear but so natural, the way these are shot. Just amazing.
I could post these pictures all day, but my hands are getting cold from typing...
All credit to the photographer, i'm just spreading the word...

Basically, this photographer clearly has talent...so check the myspace out right now!

x

Long time no speak-- this blog has certainly been neglected!
Basically the laptop broke after i dropped it on the floor, so it managed to get 'hard drive damage'-whatever that is. This upset me quite a lot because it meant i had to somehow find £100+ to get it fixed!
So, after some saving and a lot of blogging-withdrawal symptoms the laptop and i have been re-united!
The only problem is...when i knew i couldn't blog...i had loads to blog about, and now...nothing.
Oh, here's something....here's some stuff about some bands i've just discovered:

Go Audio:
These guys are on their way up. There seems to be something in their music for everyone, it's a mixture of emo/rock-pop, and the occasional bit of synth just gives the songs uniqueness and an extra dimension. Even if you're not usually a fan of emo (that would be me) it's difficult not to find yourself dancing to 'Made up Stories' especially when the synth appears out of nowhere in the chorus.
I do have to criticize their tendency to sound like lovesick teenagers - the lyrics can be a bit whiney, but even so, if a track makes you dance, it's done it's job. At least it's easy to sing along to, if the moment takes you.
Recommends: 'Made up Stories' (album is to be released later this year).

The Gaslight Anthem.
Apparently, these guys were described as the best new band of 2008 in 'Kerrang'...so why do I first hear of them in December 2008! I've certainly been missing out.
The DIY- classic rock (with some punk mixed in) sound is fantastic, and you can't help but connect with the deep lyrics, and the bluesey undertones that make the tracks fantastically distinctive. I love the title track to their album 'The 59 sound'. It manages to keep a rawness that makes it feel as though you're listening to it as it's being written. It's one of those rare songs which doesn't rhyme, but it still gets in your head and runs round and round in there because the tune is so distinctive.
I would also recommend listening to 'Old White Lincoln' from the same album. In contrast however, this sounds tight and practised to death, so keeps less emotion than in other songs and you have to listen really hard to get what the words are. It's still great though- i can't help but like it.
The singer sounds identical to how i'd imagine a younger, inexperienced Brandon Flowers to sound - in fact, Killers fans would love them...full stop. I reckon the band is set to make an even bigger impression in the near future, so look out for them - they're certainly not going away any time soon.

Recommends: 'Great Expectations', 'The 59 sound', 'Old White Lincoln'... the lot really!

Happy listening!
xx

 Comments

Ctrl.Alt.Beat...

This is just a post to plug a local band, Ctrl.Alt.Beat!..
Check them out...you won't regret it...on their myspace it says they're Indie/Ambient/Electronica, so if that's your bag they won't disappoint...
I've posted a video of them live at the Brickyard (one of the venues in Carlisle) so if you live around and about then they're probably playing there at somepoint, so go along. this song's called 'Hope She Knows'...enjoy...

Plugging done, blog over.

 Comments

Old Stuff!

I've been messing about with my ipod on shuffle and i couldn't believe how much old stuff i like to listen to. Mad, i know, but it made me think about writing a list of some of the songs that i can't stop listening to, even if they aren't exactly brand-spanking new, so here it is.

The Cure - In Between Days This song always seems to turn up as a theme tune to a TV programme once in a while, so i'd be surprised if you didn't recognise it when you heard it. Despite this, and the fact that the lyrics are quite literal, you can't help but like this song. Believe me, the intro to it will get inside your mind and you won't be able to get rid of it for days.

Gary Numan - Are Friends Electric? As any boosh fan knows, Gary Numan is a legend, and you really can't stop humming the synth bits, once you've listened to it once, even if it does sound a tiny bit like the theme tune to the IT crowd in places.

Kate Bush (covered by the Futureheads) - Hounds of Love i don't know what it is about this song, it just seems to work. Once again, you listen to it once and you can't stop singing it. I really recommend listening to the cover by the futureheads, it's pretty good.

erm....god....i was sure there were more than three....

forgotten. Damn it.

x.

 Comments

Razorlight - Wire to Wire

Yes, i know, they're too mainstream!
I'm bored, and so i thought i'd write a track review, and as you'll see, i have quite a strong opinion on this song.

After some time away from our poor old ears, 'Razorlight' are certianly back, but their new single 'Wire to Wire' is pretty understated. Well that's what i thought at first.

In some attempt to sound as deep and mysterious as possible, the piano is pretty prominent in th song, and with Borrell wailing over the top of it, it's strangely difficult to like this song on first listening. Or second listening. There's no doubt that the hook-line 'love me, wherever you are' can go round ad round in your head, but apart from that, the song leaves you cold, when the lyrics suggest that you should feel tenderness and question the way you look at love, and life.
The entire video is centered around Johnny Borrell and his enormous face crowding the camera, and in fact, the rest of the band hardly feature in it at all.
It's as if the entire thing is centred around the frontman, and the rest of the band seem completely happy with this. The whole video consists of Johnny lighting matches, which doesn't hold your attention for the the three-minutes of the song. You can't help but be bored.

It's a shame, but 'Razorlight' really seem to have lost their way after the first album, 'Up all Night', which really is great. 'Wire to Wire' isn't terrible, but really just disappointing. It's predictable, but it never really gets going at the same time. Everyone knows Borrell has a huge ego, but now it's as if he considers himself so high and mighty that he can just write boring rubbish, and expect people to like it.

Listen for yourself, or even better, don't bother, and listen to 'Golden Touch' instead.

x

Robots are amazing- they do make me laugh..
I needed this to cheer me up and save me from the avalanche of work I'm having to do for A-level...I actually though GCSE was hard- What an idiot...I haven't posted for a while because I've been rather busy doing nothing... as usual.
Let's put it this way- youtube is my new best friend.

I literally have nothing to blog about... how sad...
Oh!
My absolute favourite song in the entire world apart from all my other favourite songs is :
'Hurt Yourself on Chocolate'- Sue and the Unicorn....It makes me go all weepy....poor sue!

Here, have the lyrics..

Since you went away
I've felt so small in this apartment
Cried so hard my baby blues went red and then I bit my fist until my fist bled
Now you're gone I know, you're what I want not what I need need need
Come back, come please, I'm on my feet but I've been scuffing both my knees

Are you coming back? Or have I got the sack?
You never told me what went wrong, but now I know that you can hurt yourself on chocolate
You push too hard and get your lips cut
You can hurt yourself on chocolate, yeah, you can hurt yourself on chocolate

Since you went away
My heart beat's swollen in my thin chest
My lungs too tired for these gulped breaths I take to try to work out what to do next
Now you've gone away
I sit and stare at the internet
Don't count time spent, just pay the rent and try not to get depressed

Are you coming back? Or have I got the sack?
You never told me where I went wrong but now I know that you can hurt yourself on chocolate
You can hurt yourself on chocolate
I pushed too hard look my lip's cut
You can hurt yourself on chocolate
Yeah, you can hurt yourself on chocolate

We never said some things
But we did the dance, yeh
We never said some things
But we did the dance, so

Are you coming back? Or have I got the sack?
You never told me what went wrong but now I know that you can hurt yourself on chocolate
Push too hard and get your lip's cut
You can hurt yourself on chocolate
Yeh you can hurt yourself on chocolate

Hurt yourself on chocolate
You can hurt yourself on chocolate
You can hurt yourself on chocolate
You can hurt yourself on chocolate

Pretty self explanatory I know, but it's still a fantastic song...love it...I just can't stop listening...i just makes me all sad, cos i know it's about Sue and Chris breaking up..the song's still amazing though, even if it is sad...

Let's get one thing straight. I am NOT Boosh-bashing here. I bloody love them, but.... I've been thinking. Yeah, i know, thinking's a dangerous thing <del> i don't do it often.</del>

At the moment I can't help thinking that the Boosh are going off the point a bit. i mean, everywhere i read (NME) it's :
Noel's been talking to Alice Cooper and they're going to write an acid - goth musical together.
OR
Noel's been getting tips off U2 and the Edge about performing etc for the Boosh band / Festival.
OR even
Noel's been talking to Ronnie Wood about doing a new version of 'Where the Wild Things are' for the Boosh Book (even though Ronnie's in Rehab at the moment).

Really, it's got nothing to do with me, but what happened to the comedy? Deep down, you can tell Noel's always wanted to be a rockstar, so they're persuing the Boosh-Band thing, and now they're more famous and it's cool to be a Booshie all of a sudden (it's not just wierdos like me quoting lines at inappropriate moments and singing wierd little songs no-one's ever heard of) Noel's hanging around with all these celebrities etc.
Don't get me wrong, of course he can have friends, and it's fine to go off and do new things.

Sometimes i really do think though it's all gone to Noel's head, and sooner or later he's just going to forget about being funny all together, and persue just 'being a rockstar'.

He's already there really- always all over the tabloids, taking cocaine and apparently he had a breakdown? Sooner or later he'll be living on an island with a small indian boy...(sorry, i had to get that in). It's not like i know him personally or anything, so i'm probably totally wrong, i just get that impression. Julian, on the other hand, is being very sensible and staying out of the limelight.

I already know how much of a hippocrite i'll be when i automatically go out and buy the album, the book, and the festival dvd, even though it's more about the boosh being rockstars and nothing to do with comedy, but i'm still kind of annoyed about this.

The Mighty Boosh do deserve their success- the show is genius........just, keep writing the comedy guys, it's why we fell in love with you in the first place.

x

But this is why i love my best friend.

She made me a cake for my birthday! but not just any cake, oh, no...............

A MIGHTY BOOSH CAKE! All by herself! For me!

Have a picture....

Apart from this I had quite an unexciting birthday, because i'm having a party after i get my gcse results - i don't want to celebrate too early in case they're shit......

I didn't ask for presents because i can never be arsed with them really, but my parents just insisted on giving me money. That actually might have been a good thing, because i currently have none and very quickly need to get a job......and my friends made me a photo album with loads of embarassing pictures of me in (most from when i hade a HIDEOUS middle parting and no layers) and to be honest i didn't realise they had that many pictures of me frowning, with my eyes closed, pulling faces etc! They can't have many where i actually look normal.......but right now, i don't care, i have my boosh cake! yay!

x

The best thing that's happened was prom, wich came and went and it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. I also finally got a dress! and it was one that didn't make me look ridiculous, which is always a bonus. I actually had a good time, despite the creepy teachers and no alcohol (they were threatening to throw us out if they thought we had any. On the brightside someone managed to get some vodka and coke which we all passed round so it wasn't too bad.
We had a meal and everyone inhaled the helium out of the balloons which was a laugh, and looking at them now i've just realised i look naked on most of my pictures because they're only of my head and shoulders mostly and my dress had no straps!

We had a dance afterwards and that was also really fun, even if they played some embarassing things like 'Barbie Girl' etc, i reckon i would have danced to anything! They also made up for it with some proper music as well. The teachers did us proud too and got totally sloshed so by the end of the night they were trying to dance with us, which freaked me out slightly, seen as most of my teachers are old and creepy.

The only thing that annoyed me slightly was we couldn't go out afterwards because we had to go into school for sixth form induction the next day....... i could hardly speak to anyone that morning... let alone choose my a-level options....

x

 Comments

NME and the Mighty Boosh

Wow.
I haven't posted for ages- i was banned from the laptop until my exams were over .... it sucks....
Anyway, mainly to cheer myself up.... here is two of my favourite things combined...... the boosh and nme!

However, this also slightly depresses me 'cos i can't go to the festival! *sob*!!! Oh well i'll just have to wait for the live show dvd- i don't know if i can wait that long!

x

 Comments

Me and Dresses.......just don't mix!

I realised I haven't posted in ages! .....Exams taking over my life..... fun fun fun.....here's an update...

The prom dress hunting has NOT gone well..... my mum decided to bring my gran along (when was that EVER a good idea??!!) and so, at that point i knew looking like a pair of curtains was a very likely outcome to the trip.

You've probably gathered we didn't get a dress! I tried on some fairly horrific things though, including a purple dress which had a skirt so wide it wouldn't fit in the changing room for me to try it on, then when i did eventually get it on i had to stand on a box to stop me tripping over! haha

It made me laugh afterwards!

My mum did actually say I looked like on of those dolls that people sit on top of their loo-rolls ....... so maybe it wasn't the dress for me! Gran liked it though!

So, now I'm still dressless and my gran keeps sending me pictures of people in dresses through the post, saying she thinks I should wear them more often, 'cos they're far prettier than all this other stuff i wear!

At this rate it looks as if i'm going to my prom in jeans and a t-shirt, which suits me fine! Here are a few things i did learn though:

1) DO NOT take gran. (she wanted to teach me how to flush the toilet properly and liked talking about very morbid things! haha)

2) Surprisingly, if you're short, getting a short dress doesn't make your legs any longer, so getting a longer one with an A-line skirt (not too wide!) stops you from looking like one of the seven dwarves.

3) Make sure you have you're best friend on hand to help you and have a good laugh at you afterwards!

x

 Comments

Last day..... sort of.....

Leaving school tomorrow!

No, I lie. i'm coming back for sixth form.... which means i'm not quite free yet!

Anyway, the reason for leaving tomorrow is that my school is old fashioned. Let's just say, we still have blackboards and some of the teachers taught my friend's parents when they went to the school!
This old-fashionedness (???) means we get exam leave before our GCSEs even though the government said we shouldn't have it anymore or something.......................................
So, the long and short of this is that i get no more school until september! SEPTEMBER! What am i going to do with all this time?
Of course there's the small matter of going in and passing 11 GCSEs, so thats.. erm..... 20+ exams.... but apart from that....PARTY!

So tomorrow, being the last day, i reckon won't be anything but a huge year 11 party, shirt signing, etc... and then everyone says they're all going to cry! To be honest you can't really plan it if its genuine sadness, it needs to be spontaneous! and we're all coming back next year... well, most of us.... it's sad for people going to other places etc.... but otherwise, it's a day at school, with no work!

oh well.......

One girl said to me today 'I like your face, I've never noticed it before' (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Five years, and on the penultimate day you say this???!!!!!

Nice to know I've made an impression!

x

 Comments

First the Live show, now a festival!

Wellll.... yet another something to be excited about even though i have a snowflake in hell's chance of going!

After wasting lots of time messing about on facebook and checking the groups, i stumbled across this.............................
' Looks like the boosh are planning a festival'.... so i investigated, and concluded that:

The mighty boosh are planning to headline their own festival! Apparently they're the new rock 'n' roll?!
All i really know is it's at the Hop Farm, near Tonbridge in Kent, on Saturday July 5!!!! and they're expecting 30,000 people!
Also, some of their friends might also be playing at the festival, like:

The Horrors

Razorlight

Robots in disguise

and possibly Russell brand

WOW!
Anyway because i'm so lazy and i really need to do some revision for my German oral exam (IN FOUR DAYS!!!!!!!!!!) I'm sure you'd love to read it for yourselves......

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/theatre/2008/04/bring_on_the_mighty_boosh_fest.html

just for the hell of it.... have a picture!!!

enjoy!

So, i am no longer as mystified as i was. To be honest, it isn’t really that strange since we were bound to get told wtf was going on at some point. Anyway, i thought why not tell everyone here what was going on too, so at a later date when i’m panicking you know why! Not to mention the hunt for a dress which will ensue, so expect a lot of pictures of the dresses i’m liking at the moment....

Our prom is at a local hotel, and it all sounds a bit posh to me, with what sounds like a very nice 2-3 course meal! That’s an up-side i suppose, but i also found out that we have to invite the teachers?! WHY???? Could it be more embarrassing! If you have any experience of teachers you know my problem! Let’s just say, for some unknown reason the prom committee whose single function is to decide which teachers to invite have decided to invite the head of history, who’s known for being a bit batty! She’s from the past........ and the last time she was invited by a year group she got so drunk she decided to have a little paddle in the pond at the front of the hotel! What am i doing letting her determine whether i pass or fail gcse history with what she’s telling me!? Other than that i guess it’ll be a surprise to find out which other teachers (embarrassments) i’ll have to avoid for the entire night! It’ll definitely be funny though!

I’ll keep you posted in the meantime!

Now i reaaaally need to get back to work – i’m supposed to be revising for my GCSEs which start in a week or so!

x

I'm booored, i'm ignoring revision and i thought it was about time i posted on here seen as i've been drowning in GCSE 'stuff' and so i haven't had chance for a while. So, while listening to IAMX, this is what i came up with as an attempt at a post.

I have also been thinking quite a lot about the monster that lurks in the shadows which takes the form of our school prom. Everyone tells me it should be fantastic but to be honest i just can't see it happening. As far as i know it's gone to everyone's heads far too much, because the people on the prom committee have already decided on the dress code (dress code?! i was planning to go in a hoodie and jeans, but somehow, i don't think that's going to be allowed).
Yes, it's tuxedos (?) for the guys and long flowing dresses for us girlies..... which to me just means yet another thing for me to worry about- finding/choosing/buying a dress! You have to understand this is quite a trauma for me, seen as i only actually own two dresses at the moment (i'll see if i can take a picture) and they're hardly ball gowns. I kinda live in skinny jeans and t-shirts, so buying a dress for a party at xmas gave my mum a huge shock! There's also the added complication of me being quite little, and i don't particularly want to end up looking like an oompa-loompa with really short legs by getting the wrong shaped dress.....

On top of the dress situation, i also have to deal with my friends, who seem to insist on using it as a weapon in their constant wars against each other. They're arguing about who's booking which limo (what limo?! no-one told me about any limo!), who's wearing which colour dresses in which style, and who's going with who and who's getting ready where! Being a bear of very little brain, this seems to be a bit too much for my overloaded mind, and now i'm totally confused.
Apparently it's on a Tuesday. That's all i know.

Anyway, i reckon i'm being too negative about the whole thing....erm..... on the plus side...... it might be nice for the whole of year 11 to be together for once...
Oh, and watching one particular friend of mine trying to dance might be quite funny.......somehow it's looking like the cons outweigh the pros. I'm sure i'll start to look forward to it the closer i get to it........

In the meantime, there's the small matter of trying tp get all 11 GCSEs to attend to!

x

 Comments

Twickenham.... where dreams are made.... part 2

Back from London!
Typical northerners - start a fight then bugger off home.

That was basically what happened. Oh, and we watched a bit of rugby too. But overall, despite having to get up at a time which i didn't actually believe existed because it was so early, it was one massive party- six hours there on a bus, partying and basically listening to loud music, painting faces, eating and singing in a drunken way just to stay awake.
We got there, then walked round Twickenham looking ridiculous. Erm... the reason we looked so idiotic was that we kinda got the wrong end of the stick- we turned up with blue and white faces, war paint, flags and some of the guys even painted their chests blue, and the rest of the schools were all really posh private schools (so I still wonder what the hell we were doing there) and they were all looking very sensible with monacles and tweed jackets etc...

Anyway, so there we were, singing too loudly (but we weren't being very offensive actually, which makes a change), and generally acting like it was something we were supposed to be enjoying !?! I think this cheerful outlook upset the particularly posh people- even standing up to cheer got on their nerves!

Even though the people behind me i think were about to hit me over the head for screaming and cheering and singing and standing up (shock horror) i decided to do it even more just to piss them off (i tend to do that when i reckon people are being unfair like that).
If that got on their nerves, the thing that really did it was a prize idiot in our year decided to take on the entire crowd of supporters for the other team in a drunken rage. Well done to him. Clearly, eveyone thought he'd escaped from the zoo.
So, with this genius idea in place, he must have started to provoke those supporters or something because before long, they started to throw stuff at him and were calling him a fat bastard. They probably thought he was the entertainment instead of the rugby!
At this point, i had to look away and hide underneath the huge flag i was waving about, because the total moron decided the best way to respond to this insult was to take off his shirt and show everyone his belly. 'What a dumbass. Wtf is he doing?' were probably the thoughts of most of the spectators at that moment.

Then the stewards decided to intervene by standing in between the supporters from my school and the supporters from the other school. Surprisingly enough, this apparently didn't work, because apparently he caused a 'heated discussion' during and after the match. So if there are any people who were at that game, don't worry, we all think he's a dickhead. All the time.

After the game, we carried on the party (we had to stay positive, we had the prospect of 6 hours back on the bus before we got home to contend with), which was basically more singing etc, but this time, we also started to get very serious and competitive about uno, which was an experience. Remember, at this point i hadn't slept in a very long time and so everyone was probably hallucinating. But i swear to God, the colour of a card has never mattered to me more in my entire life.

Overall, I still want to go and live in London, seen as Camden's probably one of the most amazing places in the world, as long as i'm not banned from going because of certain yobbos.

x

 Comments

Twickenham- where dreams are made............

Just a short post today- i hope.
I'm rather excited (though that doesn't take much) because I'm going to London in a few days to go and watch my school's team play rugby. There are a few things you have to understand about this.
1) I don't have much of a clue about Rugby at all, i just wanted to go to London, and there are some people in the team i know.
2) My best friend is hoping some of the players are hot so that will be a small consolation for getting up at 4.00 am to drive down to London in time to watch a sport which looks to me like a huge fight.
3) Despite these things, I'M STILL EXCITED because i will get to wear lots of blue eye make up and paint my face.

The reason why this post is called 'Twickenham- where dreams are made' is because all the simple country folk around and about here seem to think that London is some kind of fantasy land (they don't get out much). It's kinda like this- if you can't take your sheep with you, you don't go. This rules out most interesting places. Obviously, i'm excited for the team for getting to final of this national competition and i suppose playing the final at Twickenham is a big deal for them, and of course, i want to support them (that's why i'm going) even if it means being up at all hours, and looking really stupid (that doesn't make much of a change!).
And, London is an amazing place - i want to go and live there when i'm older because i'm sick of the countryside, but for some reason all this rushing around screaming about it sounds all a bit hectic for those poor farmers! It's not good for them - normally it's front page news if an animal escapes, so this MUST be too much.

Anyway, like i've said, i'm probably as excited as anyone, even if it's just a rugby match, and now i've written this i've just realised how contradictary this is for talking about over-exited farmers when i'm over-excited, so excuse me for writing a load of complete bollocks. My only excuse is that listening to IAMX and trying to write this at 3.00am is not a good combination, but i seem to write that on every post (or something similar).

The point of this post was basically a warning- if in the next few days i post raving about how wonderful London is, simply for existing, then the rugby has gone to my head, and i can't take any more of being trapped in 'cow-muck county'. If i have a good time there, i'll definately blog about it, so beware.

So much for a short post!

x

Well as i'm sure any self-respecting Boosh fan will know Noel and Julian have signed a deal with BBC films (or something like that) to make a Mighty Boosh Film.

I'm VERY excited about this.

YAY!

If it's good i reckon my life may be complete.....

Anyway, after my brother broke this wonderful news to me about a month ago, I thought I'd better blog about it and see what everyone else thinks. I doubt I'll know much more than the rest of you (i'll probably know less), but here goes.
As far as i'm aware the whole thing's a bit mysterious, but i suppose it's early days so what do i expect?!

Apparently, there's all sorts of people that they want to be in it, despite the boosh being adament that they don't want any 'pointless celebrities' in it: they have to be 'icons', and they have to be cleverly 'written into the script'. As far as i know, Noel wants Mick Jagger to be in it as well as Gary Numan (that'd be consistent with series 3 if he's shut in a cupboard!). Apparently Steve Coogan may also be in it seen as he's wanted to be in it for a while and hasn't he produced it or something in the past? I reckon even though some people have told me that all these celebrities will ruin it, i really can't decide whteher they're right or not, because part of me thinks that these type of people have always been part of the show- i mean, in series 1 they even put in that Brian Ferry brought Vince up in a forest, even if Brian Ferry was just Julian with two chins and a wierd hairstyle! And all sorts have people have been in it already!

This sounds like a lot to get excited about but there's one major drawback. Obviously, they've got the tour to do at the end of this year (which is brilliant too -even if i don't get to see them) and so they reckon they'll start work on the film after that.
So......... effectively, this means we may have to wait a loooooooooooooong time before we actually get to see it. I've heard that we're likely to be able to go and see it at the end of next year!
I don't know if i can wait that long!
People seem to be criticizing it a lot at the moment, because they think the film will be crap. I think if it was i wouldn't care, because i seem to be so deluded now that whatever they do i will like it.

The only thing that properly bothers me about the film is that the boosh might try and change to appeal to an american audience. This probably isn't likely, but seen as films are normally released in America first, then they might have to. This would be such a shame, because (no offence to any american booshers) i'm sure everyone will agree that would completely ruin it.

Anyway I hope i'm not the only one overly excited about all this booshy action, and if you have any more information then comment because after writing this i'm now more confused than i have ever been about it! Sorry if i've confused you too- this probably doesn't make any sense, i've been trying to write this at 1.42 am while listenening to RiD ( i don't multi-task very well).

Wow. That was a long post!

x

ANYWAY!
I just want to express once again my undying love for the Mighty Boosh - Noel Fielding and Julian Barrat you're amazing!
Did anyone watch the boosh marathon on bbc three??? or was it just me sad enough to do it!!?? I've been up all night watching episode after episode.....that's why i'm on here so late (but then again it always seems to be really late). Anybody got a favorite episode, because i've got about ten favourites!!

We've got all three series and the live show on dvd, and i still never get bored of it! It seems to be the only program on tv that has this affect on me- even though i know the story, i'll still watch everything! Is that healthy? actually, that's a stupid question, i already know i have an unhealthy obsession to start with!

Despite this i'm still so depressed that i won't get to see them live!! *sniff* I've tried to get tickets but they've all been eaten up so quickly! and living in the wild wilderness of wherever this wierd countryside-place is where i happen to be, my parents aren't exactly going out-of-their-way to get them!! not fair... i'll just have to go and cry for a very long time, until i get over myself!

Anyway, just to say boosh i love you, and for anyone who is unaware of this work of genius you are seriously missing out! boosh it -up baby!! rawr!!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 Comments

Love the boosh!?-- then you should hate sugar-puffs........

For anyone who is obsessed with the world of the Mighty Boosh, it is a sad day.
I am utterly shocked! Gobsmacked even! Sorry, give me a minute to recover and I'll explain what the hell I'm blathering on about......................

Has anyone seen the sugar-puffs advert with the song in it????? because if you have I'm sure you will have noticed that it's a totally blatent rip-off of the soup song! if you haven't seen it, just imagine the soup song but all the soup references changed to sugar-puffy references, and prince at the end changed to princess and stuff like that, and there you have it. A totally 'original' sugar-puffs advert!!!!

When i first saw it thanks to a clever blogger who posted it (so thank you) it took me a minute to realise how bad it was. I'm sure everyone thinks this is a huge overreaction but as far as i'm concerned i think the boosh are right to take legal action, i'm behind them all the way. I can't believe they could do this so obviously and it even get this far without someone picking up on it. Besides, if it was a more mainstream show (which the boosh is fast becoming grrrr..., but thats another rant for another day) then it wouldn't have even been thought about, but because only the coooooooolest among us have been enlightened to the boosh (or thats how it used to be anyway) they think it'll be alright!

Of all the things they were going to rip off? The soup song is one of the boosh's best known crimps, (or that's what i think, seen as some people who don't really watch it that much can sing the soup song back to me) and even then, it's not as if they couldn't have thought of a completely different little song, as long as it wasn't AT ALL like the boosh format. Better still, they could just have thought of their own ideas for a stupid advert, INSTEAD OF STEALING the boosh's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BETTER STILL, they could just stop making sugar puffs??????

I never thought i'd say this, but i've never been so angry with a breakfast cereal in my entire life! If something isn't done very soon i'll have to take matters into my own hands: kidnap the honey monster and feed him all-bran for breakfast........ i know it's harsh, but it's what he deserves................................................RAWR!!!

rant over.

xxxxxxxxx

 Comments

Help!?.....am I saying the right thing???

Ok. So it's the day before the Easter Holidays- everyone in the entire school is bouncing of the walls. Except me.
I'm so worried for this poor girl. She's kind-of my friend, as in we talk on msn and when i see her I normally sit with her but we don't have many lessons together so it's maybe just once a week. Anyway, I was attempting the impossible and trying to do my coursework while chatting on msn (which is never a good idea, but we all do it) when I got a really odd message from this friend (i'm not naming names because i'm just about to post this so the entire world can read it).
She just said 'Am I good at anything?'. At first I thought she'd accidently started a conversation with me and really meant to send this to someone else, but it turned out she was asking my advice. She told me she was feeling really left out and isolated by her friends (who i know and i used to be part of that group until this type of thing started where they would single out one person) and she asks ME (!?) the one person who managed to be in the dark about how nasty certain people were for a grand total of three years before having the light painfully shone in my eyes then the torch thrown at me if you get the metaphor (which you probably don't seen as none of this makes any sense). Anyway, back to the point, this girl was so unhappy. I would have said they were bullying her really, but for some reason it sounds a bit over-dramatic. I can see it clearly now- now that I'm looking for it. They don't just insult her, but they bitch about her- to her face- you know the way girls do, all huddle up in a corner to make themselves look important and included, then point and stare at the subject of the conversation. Except these girls talk just loud enough so that everyone can just about hear, although it still sounds like a private conversation.
Looking over, as an outsider, I can see that they're doing it almost as a warning- they make it obvious enough so that everyone else knows that if they get on the wrong side of them, this will happen to you. It must be horrendous: to have what is basically continuous insults from the people you're supposed to trust most in the world- your friends. The worst thing is they do it because they know she won't retaliate. She said 'It's really breaking me.' But i don't really know what that's supposed to mean.

I just wanted to cry for her. As far as I know, she's not perfect, she boasts about beating everyone in exams, but i presume she doesn't deserve this (although i don't really know her that well) and ok, she's a bit of a nerd, but that just demonstrates my point in the previous post about everyone wanting to be 'random'.

And I've no idea what to do- I'd say something, but like I say in my profile I'm too shy, and to tell the truth I'm probably to selfish. I told her if she was ever on her own she could always come and hang around with me and my two best friends, (even though i don't think they'd be too happy) and that if she ever needed a chat I'd be there. I said she should just be herself and let people like her for who she is, but not let herself be a doormat.

But it sounds like I've reeled off a load of advice from every problem page in every magazine in the world. Is it enough?
xxx

I can't sleep. so I thought let's blog.
I've been thinking, how do you know whether someone is really what they say they are?
I mean, everyone is always trying to be cool or popular, and even if they say they're not then they're only saying that because they think that by acting like they don't care will make them cool and popular. Maybe it's just a school thing. but it's definately there. I'm sick of everyone pretending to be 'wierd' and 'random' just because they think everyone will like them if they act 'slightly retarded' as they like to call it. In the end, they're not being random or wierd at all, because everypne's acting like that so in the end you're just doing what everyone else is doing, so you're not wierd or random at all. There are people who I've known for years now, who I'd never have described as 'random' but for some reason, that's what they're all telling me: 'omigosh! i'm sooooooooo random'.
I reckon if you really were wierd/mental/random you'd have the piss ripped out of you at my school- i know, i'm guilty of doing that myself. I just don't get it, if you're only friends with people because they're supposedly mad and unpredictable, then do you really know them?
I'd say not.
People should like you for who you really are- not because you happen to be 'random' which seems to be the most important thing in the world right now.
I know of course that everyone'll have some moment when you say something stupid, or totally irrelevant and your friends joke about it for a while, but I don't see why it has to be all the time!!!!
What really gets me is when you can tell somone's just saying this type of stuff so they can 'get in' with certain people, but maybe that's just because I'm bitter and twisted from my past experiences with so called 'friends'.
It seems like everyone's trying so hard to be random/wierd they forget you. If you're not random enough for them they've forgotten your name within hours because they're just 'sooooooo random/wierd', but I have issues with people who try too hard to be something they're not anyway.

I suppose I'd better round this off now seen as anyone who's not got so bored that they've stopped reading soon will.

xxx

(by the way you might think I'm being a bit of a hippocrite seen as many people would say that all that stuff about Andy was pretty 'random' but that really is what my little brother told me, and I was genuinely frightened by that. Then again, I'm scared of loads of things.)

 Comments

The Academy Is....?

Hey.

I've recently dicovered a band called the Academy is...( you lot have probably all heard about this and i've just been sitting in a little box, facing the wall for a loooong time).
Anybody know anything about them?

I don'y really know how to describe them, but if i had a go i'd probably say they were alternative/ kinda punky at a push. The only songs I've heard so far are: the 'Phrase that Pays', 'Classifieds', and 'Everything We Had' and so far I've really liked them all...

Also, is it just me who thinks the singer is quite hot?
QUITE good looking but not way Noel Fielding hot.

Anybody know any good songs i can listen to?
These are a good band aren't they, and I'm not just going mental!

Here are some pictures, see what you think.....

i also love mindless self indulgence, the used, and am kinda into the horrors etc, crystal castles, you know, most electro stuff really of course Robots in Disguise, but this is a bit more alternative / rocky- so its a bit different for me...

On second listening, I've just realised how 'poppy' this band sounds. Nothing like MSI so if you like them and have a VERY limited taste in music then you won't like this. They sound a bit like 'Fall out boy' so I may have gone off them a bit. It was a temproary lapse. I apologize...some of the songs are still good- i reckon the best one is 'we've got a big mess on our hands'.

Andy apparently watches me while i sleep. Andy has half a face- the other half is a toad anus.
Andy used to have a pet which was a straw kangaroo... until it set on fire. Andy now has a pet moulded from shower gel, to keep his andy-money for him. Andy-money is sand and gravel, so gardens are rich in andy-money.
Andy can sit on people's laps and backs without them knowing. Andy is ALWAYS 'over there'.
I think Andy is creepy.
He scares me- doesn't he scare you?!?!???

And yeah, doesn't he sound like Charlie from the boosh?

Except................
I don't think he's made of bubblegum................ who knows?????

this is my first blog so i don't reallly know what to write about, i'm just a girl....in love with the mighty boosh, and indie/alternative/emo/punky/nu-rave/electroclash music.

I know it sounds strange but i suppose setting this up is a new thing, to start a new attitude to life. I set this up so I can just vent my feelings somtimes, because I know how it feels to keep some things bottled up - everyone needs to be able to let it out, even if it's just onto a computer screen.

I hope you won't get bored with all this or any of my posts, even though i know i tend to ramble a bit.

I hope i sound like a 'real' person too, and not just showing off or trying to be cool, because this is what it's supposed to be about isn't it? Sharing your feelings, even if it's totally anon. and does anyone really want to know about what's going on in my little world?

Anyway, i've done it now- no going back.
I've no idea what this blog's gonna be about..sad? happy? wierd? who knows.... probably just all the stupid shizzle floating about in my head! Anyways if you like it, leave me a comment!

x
